20250831889The Supreme Authority for Industrial Security is the regulatory body responsible for setting policies, plans, and procedures that ensure the protection of petroleum, industrial, and critical facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the areas of security, safety, fire prevention, and chemical management. These tasks aim to preserve the nation’s assets and ensure the continuity of work and production in vital facilities under various circumstances.
Given the critical importance of these facilities and the leadership’s keenness to enhance their security and stability, Royal Decree No. (439/8) dated 27/2/1397H was issued, approving the formation of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security, chaired by His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior, with membership including royal and senior officials representing relevant authorities, to serve as a national high-level reference for industrial security matters.
In the context of enhancing governance and institutional organization, Cabinet Resolution No. (707) dated 27/12/1443H was issued approving the organization of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security , to operate according to a modern organizational structure that keeps pace with sector developments and strengthens integration among the relevant authorities.
Monitoring the management of facilities under the Authority's supervision, reviewing the facilities within its scope, and reviewing the approval of policies and plans for auditing their operations.
Licensing all activities and practices related to security, safety, and fire protection.
Formulating all policies and legislation related to security, safety, and fire protection within facilities under the Authority's supervision and any organizational responsibilities assigned to the Authority.
Coordinating between national, industrial, and service facilities and governmental and private entities to ensure the security and safety of facilities.
The Authority performs security verification and approves all personnel in the fields of security, safety, and fire protection, and carries out the necessary correspondence for that purpose.
Establishing the foundations for governing security, safety, and fire protection procedures according to the Authority's issued instructions and compliance requirements.
The Authority conducts investigative and research work for facilities, investigates any incidents occurring in those facilities, and provides the actions taken in this regard.
Conducting field inspection tours to ensure that facilities comply with the Authority's instructions and regulations.
Through its pivotal role, the Authority contributes to enhancing the security and operational efficiency of sensitive facilities and ensuring their compliance with national and international standards, thereby achieving the Kingdom’s strategic objectives in protecting its national assets and supporting a safe and stable investment environment.
In line with the strategic directions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security seeks to align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by developing systems and procedures that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of industrial security, promote innovation in safety and prevention, and adopt the latest advanced technologies and equipment.
The Authority also works to expand cooperation with the public and private sectors, and supports partnerships with academic and training institutions to qualify specialized national competencies, contributing to building an integrated industrial security system capable of addressing risks, ensuring business continuity, and protecting critical infrastructure, which forms a fundamental pillar in the Kingdom’s economic growth and sustainable development.
His Excellency Engineer Ali bin Mohammed Al-Zahrani leads the industrial security system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and contributes to advancing the transformation witnessed in the industrial security sector, through developing legislations, policies, and strategies aimed at ensuring the protection of petroleum, industrial, and service facilities under the supervision of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security. He worked at Saudi Aramco for over 32 years, beginning his career there in 1991, holding several positions including: General Manager of Industrial Security Affairs, Executive Director of Safety and Industrial Security, and ultimately Senior Vice President of Safety and Industrial Security at Saudi Aramco. He was appointed by Royal Decree as Governor of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security in 2023. His Excellency holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
